Homemade preserves take a little time to prepare, but they will last well into winter, providing fresh tastes of summer while the snow flies. Sea buckthorn jelly is made from the fruit of a thorny shrub to tree that is native to Europe and Asia. The fruit has been touted as having numerous health benefits and is often made into juice. The sea buckthorn taste is said to be tart, bitter, and have very little sweetness but all this gets transformed after preserving. Sea buckthorn fruit harvesting is dangerous to the skin. This is because the hardy, stoic plants are covered in vicious thorns. But after some careful extraction, the fruit may be used several ways.
