Your itinerary:
DAY 1 Fly from Heathrow to Marseille and transfer to Aix-en-Provence for an afternoon tour of the city with BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine Associate Editor David Hurrion. Check into your hotel and enjoy a welcome drink, dinner and a talk from David.
DAY 2 We visit Le Pavillon de Galon for a guided tour of the garden. This 18th-century hunting lodge is surrounded by vines and orchards. A light lunch is included. In the afternoon we visit Château Val Joanis for a guided tour of the gardens, renowned for their classic Mediterranean planting.
DAY 3 We start the day at the Tuscan-inspired Château de Brantes with its ancient box hedges and three mirror pools. After a visit to St Remy de Provence for lunch (not included), we head to Mas Dou Gaou, a private garden created by Chelsea gold medal-winning garden designers James and Helen Basson.
DAY 4 The day starts at Domaine d’Orvès with its beautiful olive trees, fountains and raised canals. We then visit the coastal resort of Bandol for lunch (not included), then to Les Jardins d’Albertas for a guided tour of these Italian- influenced gardens full of statues, ponds and water jets.
DAY 5 We visit the famous lavender fields of the Valensole plateau, then return to Aix-en-Provence for lunch (not included). We then head for the intimate museum Atelier de Cezanne, which was artist Paul Cézanne’s studio from 1902 until his death in 1906. After returning to freshen up at the hotel, we make our way to the Hotel Pigonnet in Aix-en- Provence for a garden tour, followed by a welcome drink and a cocktail dinner of canapes and finger food.
DAY 6 Our final day takes in the fishing village of Cassis with a walking tour and free time for lunch (not included). We then depart for the flight home.
